Bespoke. Luxury. Sustainable.

Introducing the Eco-kitchen

At David Lisle, we believe that sustainable solutions in everyday life are becoming ever-more essential as the effects of a warmer climate begin to make themselves apparent.

With over 35 years in the interior design and furniture manufacturing industry, we have established renown for our forward-thinking designs and exceptional craftsmanship. True to form, we have therefore decided to innovate our own practice and push the boundaries of interior design itself with the addition of our new, sustainable alternative to wood.

Stronger than even solid oak, (so strong it is actually used in architectural beams), bamboo is a durable, stable, and completely carbon neutral substitute for any hardwood used in our interiors.

The Green Credentials

Not a wood, but a grass, bamboo has a growing speed of up to 50cm a day, (so quick it can often be heard growing), taking only a tenth of the time hardwoods take to mature.

It’s extensive and hardy root network means it is exceptional at reforesting lands that have previously been deforested.

Furthermore, a single bamboo plant also consists of several poles, with new shoots growing from the mother plant every year. Therefore, the plant does not die after harvesting. Amazingly, its yield actually increases.

Importantly, any adhesives used in the production of our bamboo are also totally free from formaldehyde and Volatile Organic Compounds.

All of these aspects and more make the production of our bamboo completely carbon neutral, or better. There is absolutely no deforestation when harvesting the plant, and its rapid absorption of carbon dioxide makes it one of the most sustainable materials in the world.

The Design Benefits

Incredibly strong and stable, bamboo has all the qualities of a hardwood, but with even faster growing speeds than softwood, making it an exceptionally durable material for interiors, whilst remaining completely carbon-neutral.

With our expertise and experience in woodwork, we are able to use bamboo in place of any hardwood, with no compromises on design or practicalities. For a contemporary, progressive design it can be left with it’s stunningly unique natural grain, or hand-painted for a subtle blend within minimalist spaces.

By pairing our staple of luxury, bespoke design with sustainable materials, our clients can continue to expect our exceptional standards of design and craftsmanship, whilst ensuring the creation of their new, totally custom interiors have a greatly reduced impact on the environment.
